SPECIAL OFFER TO RESIDENTS OF THE OAKALLS
Fixed price alarm servicing with NO VAT to pay for a limited period only. INTRUDER ALARM SERVICING "Your alarm system will only FULLY PROTECT YOU if it is serviced and maintained regularly" If you answer YES to any of the following questions we would recommend you have your system serviced:-

Has it been more than 2 years since your alarm system was last serviced?
Do you have false alarms?
Does the alarm activate when the electricity is turned off?

Whilst your alarm system may appear to be functioning correctly, it may have developed faults which you are unaware of, which may cause your alarm not to work as it was designed to. We would advise all customers to have their system serviced at regular intervals (at least every 2 years) to ensure that equipment is working correctly. Some insurers now insist that alarms are serviced annually and failure to maintain an alarm system declared to your insurers could invalidate your insurance. Don't live with a sense of false security, have your system serviced. The service would be a full service in accordance with BS 4737, including the following checks:-

1. Door Contacts. The electrical connections to external door contacts may be effected by corrosion due to moisture ingression, and the glass reed switch within the contact may also be subject to fracture due to constant opening/shutting, thus causing the contact to fail to operate.

2. Rechargeable Battery. The manufacturer guarantees the battery for 2 years, and we have through experience found that the life expectancy is typically 2-3 years. The battery will therefore need to be changed when required to ensure that the system will still operate in the event of a mains failure/interruption.

3. Passive Infra Red Detectors. Over a period of time the optics become "fogged" and the inside of the detectors becomes dirty due to small webs and debris left by small insects which manage to get inside. Special cleaning is therefore recommended to ensure full reliability of the detector.

4.External Sounder. The nicad rechargeable battery terminals need to examined to ensure that no corrosion has occurred. The 20 minute cut off timer needs to be tested to ensure that it still complies with Environmental Protection Act. (Please note that if the alarm is activated and rings for more than 20 minutes and no keyholder is available to unset the system the Environmental Department may issue a fine – we have been informed of instances where they will attend your property in the middle of night if a complaint has been made, disconnect your equipment (for which they will charge you), and they will fine the homeowner if no-one is able to silence the alarm).

Fixed price servicing for only £45.00 which includes a new battery if needed and a Certificate of Conformity. Phone free on 0800 587 5979 to book an appointment.

A job well done - TheOakalls.com
I want to express my delight at seeing The Oakalls website being created by someone who really know what they are doing. I had a discussion with other Oakalls residents about a month ago in doing exactly the same thing but my competance in this area is very limited and there is no way I could have produced a site as professional as this one. By now a good percentage of residents should know about the site and now it's our job to make sure the message is cascaded to those that don't. The site now exists and it's by far the best forum to discuss a whole host of Oakalls issues and benefits that can be sought by talking to each other.

Neighbourhood Watch Schemes
Have you wanted to live in a safe environment? Have you felt the need for someone to keep an eye on your home while you are out? Have you ever wondered about a neighbourhood watch scheme where you live - who to contact and how to set it up? Being part of the only ONE scheme on the Oakalls estate, it has been proven beyond doubt that NHW schemes actually work.
There are areas on Oakalls that would benefit greatly from this idea (quiet roads off roads) and more to the point it is totally free to do. It generates community spirit, gets you to know your neighbours and helps improve security to the homes of those around you. It takes very little time to set up and even less time to maintain. It takes just one person to oversee it and it can even reduce your home insurance!
Please think about it as there homes being broken into on a daily basis on this estate, personal possessions being stolen together with the family car - hopefully yours is not the next one. If you would like to set up a scheme in your road (about 25 - 30 homes max) please let me know. I would be more than willing to help you establish this worthwhile venture in your area. Thanks Pastie.
