Garage conversion
Wanted to share a cautionary tale about garage conversion company - Fox Paynter - who are operating on The Oakalls. I know a lot of people are considering having the work done. Have been waiting for a nearby neighbour to have their work completed before deciding to take the plunge ourselves. Thank god we waited! They have been totally stitched up. Fox Paynter started the work, botched it up (I'm told the brickwork was really shoddy among other things), agreed to put it right then never returned. Neighbour is now left with half a job done, a full skip on the drive and no one is returning their calls. To make matters worse, one of the builders did some work on a house opposite and used the skip for that job! I know the family are really upset and stressed about it and am so glad we waited. It could be a one off as I think they have done some work on this estate before (not sure how that panned out). But I will certainly be giving them a wide berth and just wanted others to be forewarned. It could be all totally innocent, but there's no smoke without fire . . .

The Bromsgrove District Council Customer Services Team want to collect as many names as possible regarding the absolute chaos getting on to and away from The Oakalls at the moment due to the new Housing / Flats being built after the northern exit of the estate.

The road is now due to be closed until 14th December!

Re: Death of Cllr. Gordon Selway - Slideslow Ward

Dear Residents I am sorry to have to let you know of the sudden and sad death of Cllr. Gordon Selway. I was informed yesterday evening that Gordon had died whilst travelling on a train last Saturday and I believe he had a heart attack.

When I am informed on funeral details I will inform you all plus details will be posted onto The Oakalls notice board. With regard to the bulb planting which was to take place this coming Saturday morning on the Green off Royal Worcester Crescent (by post box and notice board) -

I think it appropriate in respect to Gordon that a new date be fixed for the planting of the bulbs, looking towards Saturday 15th December. Cllr. Caroline Spencer Slideslow Ward
